Brazil beats Iran in Rio 2016 Olympic Games warm-up match

RIO, Jul. 29 (MNA) – The national Iranian men’s volleyball team has conceded a bitter defeat against South American powerhouse Brazil at its first warm-up match of Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

The Iranian outfit, who has qualified for Olympics for the first time, is currently at a training camp in Rio for two warm-up matches against the host country.

On Friday, Iranian men’s volleyball team slumped to the Brazilian squad 3-1 (23-25, 25-23, 25-27, and 25-27) in their first friendly match ahead of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

Iran's Volleyball coach Raul Lozano used Maruf, Mahmoudi, Ebadipour, Sharifat, Mirzajanpour and Marandi on the team's roster, while the Brazilian squad contained Lucarelli, Lucas Loh, Serginho, Bruninho, Wallace and Mauricio Souza.

Iran will take on Brazil for the second friendly match on Saturday.

The volleyball tournaments at the 2016 Olympic Games will be played between 6 and 21 August.
